Product Carbon Footprinting: From Standardisation to Communication
PCF World Summit 2009, Berlin, 20-21 October 2010
The 4th PCF World Summit took place in Berlin, on the 20-21 of October. Over 140 international delegates and speakers were in attendance, from fields of business, government, non-government organisations and academic institutions, to continue the work in the development and understanding of Product Carbon Footprinting, tackling the issues of standardisation and communication in particular.
Keynote addresses from UNEP and the PCF World Forum along with fourteen presentations covering a spectrum of the current issues were given on the first day with some topical insights. Updates of significant initiatives and programs from around the globe, including ISO 14067, PAS 2050, and the World Resource Institute and feedback from road testing GHG Protocol Product and Scope 3 Standard were given.
The firsts day’s presentations provided substantial food for thought for the lively debate, between representatives from the Carbon Trust and ANEC Environment Working Group on the topic ‘Does Carbon Labelling Work?’
Daniel Goleman gave an enlightening presentation on the subject of PCF, which lead to the Open Track Sessions facilitated by some of the leading thinkers in the field, including Greg Norris from New Earth, alongside representatives from Carbon Disclosure Project, Sustainable Consumption Institute, Guardian News and Media, and Bio Intelligence amongst others.
