The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a not-for-profit organization with the world’s largest database of company related climate-relevant information. In their 7th annual information request, more than 2.500 companies reported their direct Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and climate change strategies to CDP (Scope 1 and Scope 2).
The CDP – Supply Chain Report complements the aforementioned data with GHG emission data on the company’s supplier network, often including significant outsourced logistics and upstream processes (Scope 3). The aim of the initiative is to support green procurement and to motivate supplier companies to reduce their own environmental impact. The year 2010 report showed that more and more companies are selecting suppliers based on GHG emissions.
To improve the quality of the reports, the CDP actively supports development of an international Scope 3 standard for emissions reporting.
Participating companies include multinationals, like Dell, HP, Google, Nestle, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Boeing, Carrefour, Colgate Palmolive, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, and Sony Corporation.
CDP – Supply Chain Report started in 2007 as the CDP Supply Chain Leadership Collaboration pilot project.
